Are you interested in helping the Chicagoland community and/or gaining experience through multiple practice areas? The C.P.A. has partnered with CVLS to bring you multiple volunteer opportunities! Ranging in areas from probate law to immigration law, we have the following opportunities available:

  • Adult GAL (Guardian ad litem) Program
    • CVLS is appointed as guardian ad litem in adult guardianship cases in the Probate Division
    • Interview parties, collect and review documents, input data and documents into our Case Management System (CMS).
  • Child Representative Program
    • CVLS is appointed as Child Representative of minor children in contested custody cases in the Domestic Relations Division.
  • Eviction Sealing
    • Assist a staff attorney with drafting motions to seal an eviction.
  • Foreclosure Intake
    • Conduct intakes with potential clients (including heirs of deceased borrowers) going through a foreclosure.
  • Foreclosure Loan Modification Application Assistance
    • Assist with loan modification applications for clients going through foreclosure.
  • Minor GAL (Guardian ad litem) Program
    • CVLS is appointed to represent the best interests of children in contested guardianship cases in the Probate Division.
  • Probate Court Assistance Project (PCAP)
    • CVLS represents clients in decedent’s estates, often with a family home that is subject to foreclosure.
  • Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS)
    • Uncontested custody or guardianship cases to help an undocumented minor obtain US citizenship.
