Pro Bono

One of the goals of the Chicago Paralegal Association is to provide its members with exclusive, member only opportunities to simultaneously advance their careers and to help foster positive social change in various communities.

Director-at-Large, Pro Bono Gabriel Evelyn continues to provide volunteer opportunities that help our members gain valuable work experience. He is the author of our unofficial motto "No hateration, only community, celebration and elevation!"

Why Volunteer?

The CPA's Pro Bono opportunities benefit not only our members but also the Chicagoland community and provide access to legal services for those who are low income and vulnerable. As legal professionals, we believe we have a social responsibility to provide access to justice to those who have previously been marginalized and locked out of the justice system. By partnering with us, you will:

-Building community (interact with other folks, learn more about what people need and how to help them);
-Networking (meet individuals in the field, connect with others);
-Learning new skills and areas of law (volunteer in areas that one doesn’t normally work in);
-Resume building (Volunteer experiences help with resumes, especially if you’re in a new field. Employers will ask about them.); and
-Gaining valuable work experience (helps get that first job! Learn skills on the job).
